Pedialyte is a medical grade hydration solution specially formulated with the optimal balance of sugar and electrolytes needed to help replenish vital fluids minerals and nutrients which when lost can lead to dehydration 1. Moreover pedialyte does not contain sucrose uses the synthetic acesulfame potassium and sweeteners sucralose because this type of sugar has the potential to make diarrhea worse hence increasing the risk of dehydration. Pedialyte oral rehydration solution main purpose is to rehydrate your body from all sorts of dehydration causes. Not really sure how natural it is but it does have less sugar than sports drink and better than pedialyte.
Pedialyte is marketed only for use with infants and children as a means of combating dehydration due to illness. Gatorade has 21 grams of sugar and dextrose per 12 oz serving which should obviously be avoided by diabetics. Pedialyte has lots of sodium and potassium but less calories and less sugar than gatorade. While both appear to have benefits they are simply full of too much artificial sugar substitutes or sugar which over time will make your body acidic and deplete you of the very electrolytes you are trying to.

We don t know if either gatorade or pedialyte is better than plain old water. In a pinch pedialyte would work better than water for athletes fighting dehydration but athlete formulated sports drinks such as gatorade may better address the specific needs of athletes long term. While pedialyte can do a good job of restoring lost fluids and electrolytes in athletes it is still widely thought of as a drink that will not measure up with gatorade when trying to get the body ready for peak performance. The purpose of both of these drinks is to replenish electrolytes in the body. Drops in blood sugar. For athletes gatorade is better due to the fact that pedialyte does not contain enough carbohydrates to help feed working muscles.
