Delayed Egress Door Alarm
Delayed egress door alarms and warnings.
Delayed egress door alarm. The system is most commonly comprised of an exit device incorporating delayed egress features or an electromagnetic lock and power supply one of which would contain delayed egress circuitry. The delayed egress locks shall be unlocked by a signal from the fire command center. This 15 second delay allows management time to respond before someone exits and the alarm deters the exit from occurring. This delay gives additional time for an employee or security person to respond to the door once the alarm has been activated.
The ee designed for primary and secondary exits provides a secure 15 second delay and a 100 decibel alarm when someone attempts to exit. The door s must unlock allow immediate egress upon loss of power controlling the delayed egress locking device. Concurrently an alarm sounds while security and personnel are alerted of unauthorized egress. Delayed egress means that a door which otherwise must remain unlocked to allow quick and easy exit from one side in case of emergency can be blocked for a short interval.
Grainger carries a wide variety of emergency exit door alarms to help deter unauthorized use of emergency doors or alert you to unannounced visitors. These systems can be installed at many different types of access points but are primarily used on doors within an exit path. Some wireless exit door devices can sound a piercing. Paddle and bar activated deadlatches sound an alarm that continues until a key resets it.
The advantage of the delayed egress locking system is that it provides a delay between the time that a person activates the alarm and when the door actually unlocks. Some localities may also require a remotely located manual reset station attended at all times by trained personnel. The 15 second timer must be initiated by a 15 pound maximum force and the delayed egress lock must be rearmed manually after the release cycle is complete. When the device is actuated the door remains locked on the egress side for 15 seconds and then releases to allow egress.
